What We’re Doing This Month
This month we continue our winter discipleship series called “Our Journey of Hope: Following the Dangerous Way of Jesus”. Sunday messages and midweek group discussion material help us explore our vision, values and philosophy as a community of people following Jesus. We end this series with Pancake Dinners on Shrove Tuesday, February 16, and then mark the beginning of Lent with our Ash Wednesday service on February 17 (see opposite for more details). Lent is a season when we traditionally focus on self-examination and reflection as we consider the aspects of our lives that are in most need of Christ’s transforming presence. During Lent this year we will be particularly focusing on our sexuality and examining this important aspect of our spiritual, emotional and physical lives. We will endeavor to submit our practices, thoughts, attitudes and perspectives to the way of Jesus. The Lenten Series: In Pursuit of Sexual Wholeness will begin on Sunday, February 21, and continue until Easter.

Winter Discipleship Series: Discussion Opportunities
The current series "Following the Dangerous Way of Jesus" has been a great time of excitement and challenge for our whole community. Open forum discussions will be open to anyone to dialogue about the series, ask questions, raise concerns, listen to and engage in discussion with pastor Matthew Dyer and others. These dates are:

There will also be two Journey seminars for those who are interested in membership at Cedar Ridge. These group times are a chance to get to know the pastors and others as we further explore our vision and values while considering a more deliberate commitment to following Jesus at Cedar Ridge. Journey attendance is a prerequisite for membership. Plan on attending one of the two identical meetings. Light snacks and drinks provided, but no childcare. RSVP to Patsy Fratanduono.

Feb. 7: Potluck for Parents of Middle & High School Students
This will be a great opportunity to meet and chat with Middle and High School leaders, hear about what’s happening and coming up and share feedback. We'll also share together about some of the challenges of parenting and exploring how we can support one another. Sign up at www.crcc.org.

Feb. 14: Our 2010 Farm has Launched
As we move forward to plan for the Farm, we'd love your involvement. Check our website, under Farm for information and ways to get involved. For any questions, contact Beth Burgess. Our Farm meetings will be monthly gatherings where all are invited. Join us February 14 from 12:30-1:30PM and March 14 from 12:30-2:30PM.

Feb. 16: Shrove Tuesday Community Pancake Dinners
Pancake dinners will be held in homes around the area on Shrove Tuesday (aka Fat Tuesday) to celebrate the beginning of Lent. This is a great opportunity to meet others from the Cedar Ridge community who live near you and enjoy dinner together. Participants who sign up will need to bring an item to the dinner, depending on what the host has requested. Please plan to attend the one that is closest to you if possible. Feb. 17: Ash Wednesday Service
On February 17 we will hold a special Ash Wednesday service at 7:00-8:00 PM at Cedar Ridge. This will be a traditional service including the imposition of ashes. We hope as many of us as possible will be able to gather together as a community to mark the beginning of Lent. There will be no childcare or children's program but everyone and all ages will be welcome to join together in the main service.

Feb. 18: Prayer Practice
Come find shelter in the warmth of God’s Love at this month’s Prayer Practice, Thursday, February 18, from 7 to 9PM. Together we explore practices that help the mind, heart and body rest in the Divine Presence, including Lectio Divina, Centering Prayer, guided meditation, breath prayer and other ways of learning to be still and at peace in the loving presence of God. We also spend time discussing how to grow toward living more mindfully and into carrying a deeper awareness of the sacred in our daily lives. Everyone is welcome. No registration or prior experience required. No food or childcare.

Feb. 21: Blood Drive
Cedar Ridge is hosting a Blood Drive run by the American Red Cross. Sunday, February 21, between 8:30AM and 2:30PM will be our opportunity to serve our local community. Sign-ups with clear time schedules will be available on Sunday, February 7 and 14, in the Commons. The Red Cross is low on donors during the winter; consider this simple way to serve another.

Feb. 21: Elementary and Preschool Parents’ Potluck
We are having a potluck for parents of children in elementary school and younger from 12:45-2:30PM in the Barn. Many parents who attended our November potluck enjoyed the opportunity to connect with other parents, and continue building community and support. Feb. 28: Quarterly Leadership Gathering
Our next quarterly gathering of leaders from all areas of our church community is on Sunday, February 28 from 12:45 to 3:00PM in the barn at Cedar Ridge. At this important meeting we’ll share with one another how things are going and discuss upcoming plans. A simple lunch of homemade soup and bread will be provided. If you are a leader please register for this event on our website. You can also let us know if you can bring some soup.

We're expanding our video team! We shoot and post digital video of Sunday messages. For people who cannot come on a Sunday, these recordings are a vital service. For enthusiastic home video shooters, it’s a chance to refine your technique and help people.
